  a. Provides equal chance for success and promotion and reduces safety concerns
  b. Shifts responsibility from employers to employees as they now know what to do
  c. By increasing customer satisfaction, they are less likely to become disgruntled and sue
  d. Motivated employees are less likely to file compensation or unemployment claims

- The Hurdle Concept involves applying a combination of two or more factors (e.g. temperature, moisture etc.) to decrease the growth of pathogens in foods.
-These factors create hurdles for pathogens in foods and reduce their growth.
- The hurdle concept enables the use of a lower concentration or intensity of each hurdle leading to a synergistic effect against microbial growth
- Hence, the sensory qualities of the food is not affected unfavorably
