Answer to Question 1

A lineage is a unilineal descent group composed of four to six generations descended from a common ancestor or founder. The members are related in exact genealogical terms. A clan is an extended unilineal kin group that consists of several lineages whose members claim common descent from a remote ancestor, usually mythological or legendary.
