Answer to Question 1

Illegal immigrants are a growing population in American prisons. Illegal immigrants are now detained in detention centers before they are deported back to their country. Evidence shows that Hispanics deal with racism and anti-immigration status, which leads to higher amounts of confinement for immigrants. Illegal immigrants have unique problems in prison because of the language barrier and the recruitment into ethnically compatible gangs. Family detention centers are in progress of being created as a minimum-security facility that would provide a living space for the entire family prior to court and deportation.

Answer to Question 2

Elderly inmates are vulnerable to victimization. They also need specialized attention for medical treatment, housing, nutrition, and institutional activities. The care of the elderly is extremely expensive. It is about three times more expensive to house and care for an elderly inmate than it is for the cost of other prisoners. Older inmates also experience a high rate of health and mental health issues. There are an increasing number of elderly prisoners, many of whom have violent records and sex offenses.

Every flu season is different, and even healthy people can get extremely sick from the flu, as well as spread it to others. The flu season can begin as early as October and last as late as May. Every person over six months of age should get an annual flu vaccine. The vaccine cannot cause you to get influenza, but in some seasons, may not be completely able to prevent you from acquiring influenza due to changes in causative viruses. The viruses in the flu shot are killed—there is no way they can give you the flu. Minor side effects include soreness, redness, or swelling where the shot was given. It is possible to develop a slight fever, and body aches, but these are simply signs that the body is responding to the vaccine and making itself ready to fight off the influenza virus should you come in contact with it.
