Other parole officers work as field officers in the community. Parts of their duties include helping parolees find jobs, schools, and treatment programs. They also provide resources to community agencies to assist the success of parolees. Parole officers are in charge of visiting the parolees and evaluate their progress.

Although the parolee is out of prison and part of the community, the state remains in control of the parolee until he or she is dismissed from parole.
