Answer: Answers will vary, but may include any of the following: creation of decent-paying jobs, provide government economic aid, end racial segregation in housing, strengthen social integration and social institutions in urban neighborhoods, reduce housing and population density, reduce urban neighborhood dilapidation, change masculinity definitions away from violence and crime, and reduce social and economic inequality between men and women. The reasons regarding the opinions and strategies that would be most effective will vary.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: The criminal justice funnel highlights the fact that only a very small percentage of all serious crimes lead to the incarceration of the offender. The huge drop throughout all stages of the funnel underscores the cost-ineffectiveness of reliance on the criminal justice system to reduce crime.
