Answer: Answers will vary, but the student should explain if the killer was a hedonistic lust killer, a thrill killer, a comfort killer, a power-control killer, or a visionary killer.

Answer: One reason might be a subculture of violence combined with a code of honor that demands responses. The subculture of violence, according to the text, is believed to have stemmed from the violent institution of slavery. A second reason, may be the warmer temperatures, which occur all year long. Higher levels of violence ma y also stem from the higher levels of economic deprivation when compared to other regions. Additionally, the South does have a higher rate of gun-ownership rate.
