Answer to Question 1

Answer: a

Answer to Question 2

Answer: The five stages include preparing to commit a crime, selecting a target, committing the crime, escaping, and the aftermath of the crime. The theory assumes that all criminals are acting rationally and act deliberately. A large percentage of crimes are committed by offenders that are under the influence of drugs or alcohol which could impact their ability to act rationally. There are also crimes of passion in which those offenders may not work through the five stages, and simply act in the heat of the moment.
