Paternalism is male dominated social system that assumes more of fatherly role
Paternalism might treat women like children, but often used to detain and isolate delinquent females
Chivalry is more like rescue and treat well, put women on pedestal
Chivalry preserves women from harm but more like a knight in shining armor than father
Chivalry would result in less female incarceration, fewer arrests and attempt to preserve traditional womens roles as homemakers and wives
Both can be viewed as forms of sexism
Objective: Concepts of sexism, paternalism and chivalry and how they are used in feminist
