Answer to Question 1

Answer: Answers will vary. Students should note that cybercriminals do not need to be in contact with their victims or put themselves in harms way in order to commit crimes. The lack of contact may depersonalize the victim and make the crime seem less important. The lack of physical danger may make it seem less damaging.
Objective: What different types of cybercriminals does this chapter describe?
Page number: Throughout
Level: Difficult

Answer to Question 2

Answer: Answers will vary. Students should mention that many types of technology (weaponry and chemistry, for example) are used by both criminals and law enforcement. They should recognize that the use of computer technology has removed barriers of time and place for both criminals and law enforcement and allows the infiltration of both private residences and places of business remotely. It has also made both theft and the investigation of theft possible without leaving noticeable traces when done electronically  if someone breaks into a home or residence and takes a television or computer, it is obvious; if someone breaks into a computer or smartphone and steals images, the victim may not even know that a crime was committed.
