Answer to Question 1

Answer: The primary types of workplace violence are 1) violence committed by criminals who have no connection with the workplace but enter it to commit a crime; 2) violence directed at employees by customers, clients, patients, or service recipients; 3) violence against coworkers, supervisors, or managers by current or former employees; and 4) violence committed in the workplace by someone who does not work there but who has a personal relationship with an employee (e.g., a domestic abuser who has shown up at the workplace).

Answer to Question 2

Answer: Victims of intimate-partner violence may choose to remain in their relationships for a number of reasons. Violent relationships are typically characterized by a cyclical nature in which the abuser relies on social control to prohibit the victim from leaving. These victims may face legitimate concerns for their safety if an attempt at departure is successful, as their leaving may trigger additional threats or acts of violence at the hands of their abuser. Furthermore, to leave may jeopardize an abuse victims family structure, social status, and economic viability.
