Answer to Question 1

Answer: Answers should explain the concept of selective incapacitation, and the underlying need to accurately identify potentially dangerous offenders in existing criminal populations. They should review the four generations of development of empirically based risk assessment and classification tools. A discussion of dangerousness as an ascribed quality rather than an objective quality and the difficulty this creates for definitions of dangerousness should also be included.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: Answers should define the modeling theory of aggression, which asserts that people learn to act by observing others. Discuss the argument that violent video games that teach youth how to shoot and express aggression can play a part in transferring these behavior patterns to reality.
