Answer to Question 1

Answer: Answer should include information regarding how sex offending is related to psychological disturbances, and those mental issues must be addressed. The containment model is designed to use a triangle of supervision: treatment to teach sex offenders to develop internal control over deviant thoughts; supervision and surveillance to control offenders' external behaviors; and polygraph examinations to help design, and to monitor conformance to, treatment plans and supervision conditions.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: A separate and objective decision-making process for assigning inmates to restrictive status housing, with
 Regular reviews of the assignment;
 Mental health assessments within 72 hours of placement and periodic assessments thereafter and development of treatment plans when appropriate;
 Progressive levels with increased privileges as incentives for positive behavior and program participation;
 Visiting, exercise, medical, and mental health access; and
 Transition planning for return to the general population.
