The USA PATRIOT Act was created out of response to the September 11th attacks. Describe how this act is used in counterterrorism efforts.

Answer to Question 1

Answer: After the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, Congress enacted the USA PATRIOT Act. The act created a number of new crime categories, such as terrorist attacks against mass transportation and harboring or concealing terrorists. Those crimes were set forth in title VIII of the act titled Strengthening the Criminal Laws Against Terrorism. Additional information and details should be provided.

Answer: Answers will vary. Students may address how long they think the fire has been burning, notice the color and direction of smoke, are there witnesses in the picture, or where does it look like the fire started. This assignment is created to give students an opportunity to study a fire with a critical eye and apply basic information learned from the chapter.
