 Court found that probationers have a liberty interest and are thus entitled to diminished due process rights
 Court found that probations were entitled to:
o A notice of the alleged violations
o A preliminary hearing to decide whether there is sufficient (probable) cause to believe that probation was violated (to remand the probationer to custody)
o A revocation hearing
 Court ruled that the probationer has the right to appear and to present witnesses and evidence on his own behalf as well as a conditional right to confront adverse witnesses
