 Peremptories may not be used to exclude potential jurors based on race. See Batson v. Kentucky (1986),
476 U.S. 79.
 Peremptories may not be used to exclude potential jurors based on gender. See J.E.B. v. Alabama (1994),
511 U.S. 127.
