Answer: This was established in Katz v. U.S. (1967), 389 U.S. 347. Persons must exhibit an actual or subjective
expectation of privacy, and the expectation is one which society is prepared to recognize as reasonable.

Answer: A search is a governmental intrusion into an area where a person has a reasonable expectation of
privacy.
