Answer to Question 1

A polymer is a substance composed of a large number of atoms that are usually arranged in repeating units. Polymers are often referred to as macromolecules they may contain thousands or even millions of atoms.

Answer to Question 2

A physical characteristic that frequently are used to identify fibers is an infrared absorption spectrum.
