Thermal stresses are energy concentrations that are retained in a material resulting from the inability of the material to change shape as would normally occur upon cooling or heating. These thermal stresses can be relieved by slowly heating the material to a moderate temperature

The thermoset materials are crosslinked and thermoplastics are not. This crosslinking raises the total length
