What kind of tests would you perform on a polymer sample in order to verify that it is suitable for use as the pole for an outdoor basketball standard? Why?

Answer to Question 1

Stiffness, flexural testing, torsion, UV, weatherability, creep, impact testing.

Answer to Question 2

Lighter, cheaper, formed more easily, tougher (dents, bounce), corrosion (but not UV)
