Answer to Question 1

Modern helical gearboxes are durable, cool running, and efficient. Because of the helical tooth configuration, typical efficiency is 95-99. That's a great advantage compared to worm gearboxes whose efficiency can be 60 or lower.

Answer to Question 2

The pulsations produced by chordal action generates noise and vibration and considerably limits the power capacity and speed range of a roller chain.
