Answer to Question 1

The two types of construction of roller chain are riveted and cottered. Riveted chain is roller chain in which pins are bradded to hold side plates. Cottered type roller chain uses cotter keys to hold side plates.

Answer to Question 2

Because it allows no slip or creep.
