Answer: One way to get around the problem of reference groups is to ask people to describe the typical member of a culture, known as a perception of national character. This actually measures stereotypes, but it can sometimes be more accurate in describing the overall personality of a culture than self-reports.

Answer: In traditional, more collectivistic cultures, divorce is rareas is dating, as many marriages are arranged. Family relationships are tightly enmeshed, with adult childrenespecially womenliving with their parents until they marry.
