Answer to Question 1

Answer: Male and female babies do not differ in how much they cry, and the increase in heart rate after seeing emotional content is similar between men and women. Girls and women do cry more often than boys and men. At least in terms of emotional expression, the stereotype that women are more emotional than men is true. However, men and women experience the same emotions at the same intensity.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: Powerful women, or those with more dominant personality traits, are often judged more harshly than men with the same power and dominance. Ambitious women, more than men, may have to choose between being respected but not liked (by displaying agentic qualities) or being liked but not respected (by displaying communal qualities). This double bind places women at a disadvantage at every stage of work, from hiring to salary negotiations to promotions. The association of leadership with men has declined in the last few decades, though it still remains.
