Answer to Question 1

Answer: One large study found that men actually talk more than women overall. The largest difference appeared in mean length of utterance. When men talk, they talk for longer. Some studies have found that women talk more when collaborating with others, with no sex difference in unstructured situations. Women also talk more about emotional support. Among dating partners, women talk more, but among spouses, men talk more.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: Men's gender roles have shifted. Men have entered traditionally female professions such as nurses, airline flight attendants, and elementary school teachers. Family roles also have shifted. Men spend three times more time than the elder males in their family caring for children. It is more acceptable for males to freely express caring traits.
