Answer to Question 1

Answer: You can use classical conditioning principles to help create a space and a mindset in which sleep can occur. You need to learn to associate your bed with sleep, so it is important that you do not do work or study in your bedroom or sit on your bed when texting or calling people who might upset you. You can study in the living room or kitchen and take your phone calls there as well. You can also work on getting in a calm mindset before getting into bed. Some people find a warm bath, reading something light, or just relaxing key.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: People with an external locus of control are more likely to be anxious and depressed. They are also likely to have lower conscientiousness and self-control. External locus of control may be a response to negative life circumstances as well. People who have had bad experiences may give up and decide they cannot have an impact on their life outcomes. That makes them more vulnerable to poor academic performance, anxiety, and depression, creating a vicious cycle.
