Answer to Question 1

Answer: You can use b-mod, or behavior modification, to change a bad habit such as poor eating, lack of exercise, self-criticism, etc. by identifying a behavior that you would like to change and then positively reinforcing yourself when you engage in good behavior. If you want to stop eating candy, you can reward yourself at the end of the week with a non-food item if you avoided candy all week. You can also review your triggers and habits and change them. For example, let's say that you eat candy when you are bored. Instead of eating candy, you can go for a short walk.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: Behavior modification for the treatment of addictions uses a variety of methods. For example, alcoholics might take a drug that makes them nauseous when they drink alcohol. Instead of being rewarded with a buzz, they are punished with throwing up when they drink.

The human body's pharmacokinetics are quite varied. Our hair holds onto drugs longer than our urine, blood, or saliva. For example, alcohol can be detected in the hair for up to 90 days after it was consumed. The same is true for marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy, heroin, methamphetamine, and nicotine.
