Alejandro is in therapy to learn how to cope with his snake phobia. Alejandro's counselor is slowly getting him ready for the day when he can be in the same room as a snake without experiencing significant distress.

Answer: Alejandro is experiencing systematic desensitization, a treatment for phobias that attempts to reduce fear in many small steps.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: Abbey has experienced habituation, when you get used to something in the environment and do not respond as strongly to it anymore.
