Answer: Babies are born with an id, but not with a super-ego. Children must learn right and wrong, and what is considered right and wrong differs from one place to another and from one time to another, The super-ego consists of the rules of the culture in which you were raised and develops over time.

Answer: 1) The psychodynamic school included many big-picture theorists. There is something to admire about this intellectual boldness. 2) Many of the ideas described by Freud and others are pervasive in today's culture. 3) Freud's work was generative, leading to other research. 4) Many modern topics, from self-control to narcissism, have deep roots in psychoanalytic theory. 5) Psychodynamic and neo-analytic thinkers explored ideas that are difficult to measure, even with today's technological advances.
