Answer to Question 1

Answer: Triangulation is using different methods to answer the same question in order to be more certain of the answer. Triangulation is important when measuring someone's personality so that information is collected from several sources to offer the most definite evaluation.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: Personality can be measured using several alternatives to self-report measures. Informant reports where parents or teachers provide information about someone can be useful, particularly for those not old enough or self-aware enough to fill out a questionnaire on their own. Clinical interviews can yield information about a personality disorder. Personality can be measured through archival records, or the collection of data on someone's behaviors. Other measures such as archival or life outcomes data, projective tests, and physiological measures can provide information regarding someone's personality as well.
