Answer to Question 1

ANS: F
Siliceous oozes actually take much longer to dissolve into seawater than calcareous oozes. These two
types have different organisms that break down in seawater at different rates. Information can be found
in the section Pelagic Sediments Vary in Composition and Thickness.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: T
The process that compresses the biological particles into fecal pellets allows sediments that would
normally need 20 to 50 years to sink to the bottom in as little as two weeks. Information can be found
in the section Pelagic Sediments Vary in Composition and Thickness

Physicians can prescribe alternative medications for pregnant women who have symptoms of high blood pressure.

An identified risk factor for osteoporosis is the intake of excessive amounts of vitamin A. Dietary intake of approximately double the recommended daily amount of vitamin A, by women, has been shown to reduce bone mineral density and increase the chances for hip fractures compared with women who consumed the recommended daily amount (or less) of vitamin A.

When Gabriel Fahrenheit invented the first mercury thermometer, he called "zero degrees" the lowest temperature he was able to attain with a mixture of ice and salt. For the upper point of his scale, he used 96°, which he measured as normal human body temperature (we know it to be 98.6° today because of more accurate thermometers).
