Answer to Question 1

ANS: T
Scattering happens when light bounces between molecules and objects before being absorbed. The
density of water and the dissolves particles in water increases the amount of scattering. Information
can be found in the section Light Does Not Travel Far through the Ocean.



Answer to Question 2

ANS: F
Higher frequencies of sound are absorbed sooner in water. The speed of sound is almost five times
faster in water than in air. Information can be found in the section Sound Travels Much Farther Than
Light through the Ocean
