There were a few factors that made the 2005 hurricane season unusual. There were 28 tropical storms,
of which 25 progressed into hurricanes. Three hurricanes became category 5, including Hurricane
Katrina. The hurricanes in this season peaked early in their life cycles so they were able to retain their
