What does the principle of constant proportions tell us?
 
  a) No matter where ocean salinity is measured, the result is the constant.
  b) No matter the salinity of ocean water, the ratios of major dissolved ions remain the same.
  c) The amount of chloride ions (Cl-) in ocean water is constant.
  d) If a major dissolved salt is removed from ocean water, and other salts increase to keep the salinity constant.
  e) Ocean water salts are dissolved ions.
