Answer to Question 1

ANS: C
Tides are never free from the forces that cause them. They are caused by a mixture of the gravitational
force of the sun and the moon, and the motion of the Earth. Information can be found in the section
Tides Are the Longest of All Ocean Waves.

Answer to Question 2

ANS:Answer
should include:
Erosional coasts are those that are involved in the removal of coastal material. Land and
marine erosion is essential in this type of coast.
The erosion of rocks can be dependent upon their hardness. Hard rocks will resist
erosion when faced with wave shock. Softer rocks may not even last the night when
subjected to wave energy forces.
Erosion rates are also linked to the amount of marine erosion. High-energy coasts are
battered by large waves on a consistent basis. This can increase erosion rates. Lowenergy
areas receive few large waves.
These can sometimes be called wave-cut shores. They are characterized by abrupt sea
cliffs and sea caves. They also have wave-cut platforms that correspond to the
submerged limit of marine erosion.
