Answer to Question 1

ANSWER: b

Answer to Question 2

Examples of extraindividual factors include handicap accessible ramps, surgery, and social support services such as Meals on Wheels. Intraindividual interventions include factors such as starting an exercise program and keeping a positive attitude. Both intraindividual and extraindividual factors may help people live more independent lives. The goal of these interventions is to decrease the restrictions and difficulties that result from having a chronic illness. However, they do not always work as planned and may create issues of their own (such as when a medication has negative side effects or a program has restrictions that make it difficult for people to participate).
Such situations make the original problem worse and are called exacerbators. Exacerbators may result in the individual requiring even more types of interventions.
