Answer to Question 1

In the case of New Jersey v. T.L.O, it was found that a school setting required some modification of the level of suspicion of illicit activity needed to justify a search and it was unsuitable for a teacher to obtain a warrant before searching a child that is suspected of an infraction of school rules. In Veronia School District v. Action, the Court upheld a school board policy that required student athletes to submit to random urinalysis. Opinions regarding the decisions of the cases will vary. Answers should include specific rationale and details obtained from the content of the textbook.
