2. Photograph the exterior of the vehicle(s), including its four sides, the license plates and vehicle identification number (VIN).

3. Photograph medium and close-up views of the damage to the vehicle.

4. Photograph, measure, and collect evidence on the exterior of the vehicle.

5. Obtain swabs for DNA analysis of the undersides of the door handles.

6. Process the exterior for latent fingerprints.

7. Photograph overall views of the interior, including the trunk and engine compartment.

8. Search for evidence in the interior, including the trunk and engine compartment.

9. Assign placards to all evidence items.

10. Take orientation photographs of evidence items.

11. Take close-up photographs of each evidence item with and without the placard and a measurement scale in place.

12. Take measurements of the evidence to identify its location within the scene.

13. Collect all evidence.
