How might masks, commonly used in a number of classical traditions, affect the techniques used by an actor? Why do you think masks are not commonly used in contemporary American theatre? Can you think of any productions in which they are?

The student could talk about the Realism switch to real life as a reason why masks
are no longer popular and why only a few make them work based on the different kind of
technique used in a show such as The Lion King.

The student could talk about how the responsibility of the SM and TD is to bring
together all the efforts of the production and technical team, respectively and that they are
the messengers for the different production and technical people to the director and then
the executer of whatever the director decides.
