In the United States, colleges and universities are the center for professional theatre training. Many universities have resident companies and faculty with professional theatre credentials, and its productions are beneficial to both the students and the community as well. Particularly in Africa, many universities have resident theatre companies and groups promoting classical and indigenous art forms on campus that transform the university into a cultural center for the general population.
