Factors, such as our age, culture, race, religion, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, education, and economic or social class, and personal histories play a part in our response to a performance. How much experienced a theatre-goer has with theatre will also affect his/her reception. The theatre configuration and lighting also can affect the audience's responses.
