Answer to Question 1

Acting as an auteur, a director originates the concept for a production, rather than starting from a play text. A director-auteur creates a performance text that records all that will happen on stage. He/she exercises much more control and authority over all aspects of the production. The performance is the realization of a complete and personal vision.
