Answer to Question 1

The paint forms a film through evaporation of the solvent and oxidation of the resins.

Answer to Question 2

A painting specification is a contract between the client and the painting contractor. Volume of solids, expressed as a percentage per gallon of paint, is very important; using a lower volume paint requires much more paint than that with a higher volume. Items discussed include the time limit for the job and the penalty clause if that time limit is exceeded. The method of application is specifiedroller, brush, pad or sprayor a combination. Instructions regarding cleanup, usually the responsibility of the painting contractor, are also covered.
