During World War II, the United States and the Soviet Union
 
  a. fought on opposite sides for much of the war, and only became allies during the
  closing phases of the war.
  b. cooperated closely and saw eye to eye on most issues including the timing of the
  invasion of Europe.
  c. were allies, but nevertheless had disagreements on many issues including the
  future of postwar Europe.
