Answer to Question 1

Ford became creative director at Gucci in 1994. In his first year, ''he was credited with putting the glamour back into fashion, introducing Halston-style velvet hipsters, skinny satin shirts, and car-finish metallic patent boots.'
Ford credits his success not to his talent, but to his energy. Others, however, cite Ford's ''combination of a fine commercial sensibility and a genuine feel for fashion.''
Ford designs shoes, watches, luggage, and men's and womens wear; plans the company's advertising campaigns; and supervises the development of Guccis two new fragrances, Envy and Rush.
