When the United States entered World War I in 1917, women went back into the workforce and
took on jobs traditionally held by men. When women broke out of their traditional roles, they
shed their petticoats and the excruciating corset.

In 1947, Christian Dior made history by presenting the New Look, which brought back
femininity to the world. The fashion world recognizes Dior for saving French haute couture.
