Purpose:
  This is a complex model to create partnerships among families and human services professionals, including educators.
  This is a new paradigm of teamwork and care that professionals and families offer one another to enable all to reach appropriate goals.
Principles:
  Families and professionals work together for interagency coordination to improve services to families and children
  Collaborators recognize and respect knowledge, skills and experiences of one another
  Trust is integral to success
  Open communication is necessary
  All cultural traditions and values are honored
  Mutual commitment and shared vision of all collaborators better serve families and children

Philosophy
  when families and communities cannot support childrens development, they begin school with impairments
  all children will be supported and expected to meet high standards
  tracking and lower expectations will not be part of Comer Schools
  all students are entitled to meet their utmost potentials
  six developmental pathways are incorporated
  educational experiences will be provided to compensate for what children have missed
  schools will work in partnership with families and communities
Model:
  school planning and management team: teachers, administrators, support staff, family members
  student and staff support team: principal, staff members with knowledge of child development and mental health
  parent team: made up of family members
