 Balance content on needs of both children and parents
 Plan and allow sufficient time for open-ended discussion

 challenges for families from varying socioeconomic backgrounds
 concerns of families from differing ethnic, religious, racial, and sexual orientation backgrounds

 strategies for sensitively responding to various family forms including foster parents, grandparents, adoption, teen parents
