Conditions of grief
  Denial: a way to cope with the new information that their baby has a disability; may continue to look for and expect cures when none exist
  Anxiety: constant concern for the child affects family system; medical care and testing may be overwhelming and bring extreme pressure
  Guilt: a feeling that they did something wrong and why it is their fault
  Depression: dealing with the reality of the situation seems like a shattered dream; sadness about loss
  Anger: blaming others although there is no logical place to direct feelings of anger
  Acceptance: comes about when professionals and family accept the situation and the child; focus is now on the childs gains instead of the parents loss
