It is important for English language learners to work in tandem with children who are more skilled in the English language because the variety of curricular activities will give them a chance to explore and practice speaking English in all areas of development.

Use visual aids. Give sufficient wait time. Model spoken language. Respect the home language. Recognize the silent phase.
