Answer to Question 1

The Reggio Emilia programs and teachers promote the idea that young children are capable learners. The projects allow them to follow the childrens interests, adjust, and change while providing long-term opportunities to examine the areas that are being investigated. The arts are a strong component in the Reggio programs and support the learning that is occurring. The Reggio environment is aesthetically beautiful and includes much artistic work produced by the children, which is displayed and revisited over time.

W: What I want to know.
L: What was learned?
This technique is used in planning curriculum to determine what children know that the teacher can use to build on their current knowledge, to find out what they want to know so their inquiries and interests can be followed, and to record what they have learned when the study is completed.
